Platform9 showcases Elastic Machine Pool at FinOps X 2024 in San Diego

Discussions with FinOps and DevOps teams at the event revealed that Kubernetes clusters in the public cloud typically operate with an average of 70% idle compute capacity, significantly increasing cloud expenses. Platform9 discussed how Elastic Machine Pool (EMP) can run workloads on 50% less compute by reclaiming idle capacity.

What is FinOps X?

FinOps X is the home of FinOps, enabling the FinOps community to come together in person. Hosted by the FinOps Foundation, providing the ultimate networking and learning opportunity for anyone working in FinOps.

Platform9 was a first-time sponsor of FinOps X 2024 in San Diego. We had a great time connecting with FinOps and DevOps teams, discussing their challenges around Kubernetes resource management and how to reduce idle capacity thereby reducing costs.

It was great to see first hand the community's engagement and energy. The emphasis on connections, culture, learning, and peer insights was particularly noteworthy, encouraging everyone to connect with others who have similar goals and challenges, share ideas, and learn collaboratively.

FinOps X Podcast: Why the shift to FinOps is crucial in today’s cloud-centric world?
